Rep. Bentivolio’s statement on the passage of Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Kerry Bentivolio (R-MI) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed HR 2009, Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013:
“As part of my job on the Oversight Committee, I have participated in the ongoing investigation into the IRS harassment of Tea Party groups, Christian groups, pro-life groups and others. I have been a long-time a supporter of reform for our overly complex, burdensome tax code, but by targeting specific groups with unwarranted, and discriminatory scrutiny, the IRS has sunk to the level of unjust and unconstitutional attacks on groups that voice certain opinions in the public arena.
“The findings of the Oversight and Government Reform’s investigations are proof that the IRS should not be enforcing how we buy or use our health insurance. I applaud the passage of HR 2009, and urge the Senate to take action as soon as possible.”
